2014 Maserati Quattroporte Review and Specs
Maserati has introduced their new sport car in the Detroit Auto Show 2013 last month. So far, Maserati is known to compete with its classmate Ferrari or Lamborghini in sport car class, but today the Italian manufacturer release a lower class model the all-new Maserati Quattroporte. The all-new Maserati Quattroporte 2014 is set to compete with its rival BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S Class.
All-new Maserati Quattroporte comes as luxury four-door coupe sedan, with an option of V6 and V8 engines. Both models have the same dimensions and design, it just different in engine sizes. Dimension of new Quattroporte will be longer, wider, and more spacious legroom than its competitor, but still with typical Maserati V8 engine that powered 530 horsepower with the latest technology to make the car more economical in terms of fuel consumptions.
Automaker said that the new model is note a substitute for existing Quattroporte. It is really the all new model. He also said when you drive this car, you will feel like driving a two-door sport car but with the more spacious cabin.
Base model of 2014 Quattroporte powered by 3.0 liter V6 engine that generate 410 horsepower, which is able to bring the car to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5 seconds, before reach its top speed of 285 km/h.
In addition, the new Quattroporte also comes with a 3.8 liter V8 engine plus twin turbo and direct injection. Total output of V8 engine achieved 530 horsepower with a torque of 670 Nm. Torque can be increased up to 720 Nm, thanks to the overboost. Rate acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in the range of 4.7 seconds. The top speed of V8 engine is up to 307 km/h.
Both engine are paired with eight-speed automatic transmission and offered with rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configurations.
2014 Maserati Quattroporte Price and Release Date
The all-new Maserati Quattroporte 2014 should go on sale in mid 2013, maybe late June or early July 2013. Cars that make its debut in 2013 Detroit Auto Show last January, will start on production for Asia in April 2013. Pricing detail is not announced yet, but we estimated its not much different than its predecessor the 2013 Maserati Quatrroporte S that priced start from $132,150 and the uplevel 2013 Quattroporte Sport GTS start at $140,100.
