Volkswagen launched 7th generation of VW Golf at the 2012 Paris Auto Show in September 2012. VW Golf is the most popular VW’s car in Europe where it made top the sales charts in several countries. That makes the Golf become an very important in VW’s line up. The Golf looks familiar with new headlights and taillights and slightly more styling for the new model for 2014 Volkswagen Golf.
The 2014 VW Golf is slightly larger than its predecessor. It’s 2.2 inches longer and a half-inches wider than the previous generation. The new Golf weight also lighter than before, its 220 pounds lighter which saving from a new engine and a body that use a hot-formed steel with high-strength materials. There is no information yet what version of the new Golf for the U.S. market. But for the Europe specs, it’s informed that there are two trim level of Golf. The first is powered by 1.4 liter TSI turbocharged engine, and the second is powered by 2.0 liter TDI engine. The 1.4 liter TSI produced 140 horsepower and the 2.0 liter TDI slightly better which can produced 150 horsepower. Both are available with six-speed manual or six-speed DSG automatic.
The Golf European specs offer an advanced safety technology for its class including multi-collision braking that used to stop the car after an accident and drowsy driver detection features. Unfortunately, these features is not included for American specs but its given the Golf’s price point which start under $18,000.
